Social Skills Class

$350.00Foundation for Successful Living’s weekly social skills classes for teens and adults with intellectual or developmental disabilities focuses on flexibility and obtaining social skills. This unique program will allow individuals to interact with a group of 4-8 peers, and will run for 10 weeks.
Social skills are important for all individuals allowing them to flourish in all areas of their lives. Utilizing the book “Unstuck & On Target” individuals will follow a curriculum focused on improving flexibility and social skills. Flexibility and Social Skills present many problems for people with autism and other disabilities.
Through “Unstuck & On Target” individuals will learn:
• How to effectively and calmly manage unexpected events
• Coping skills with disappointment and frustration
• How to keep an open mind
• Ways to navigate disagreements with friends
• How to set and achieve goals
• Skills on learning ways to compromise
• How to create a Plan B when Plan A doesn’t work
• And more…
Classes will be held Thursdays beginning April 25th at 1879 Austin Bluffs Pkwy, Colorado Springs, CO 80918 from 4:30-6:30pm. Classes will run through June 27th.
Program Cost: $350.00
Individuals will be encouraged to participate and also interact with others in the class. In addition to the focus on improving flexibility and social skills, subject matter will also include friendships, body language, communication, and understanding social cues. When time permits, individuals will work as a team to create craft projects.
